Self-care

The end of year has no limit. Your energy does.

Most end-of-year plans assume you’ll have a full tank every week. You won’t. Start with the energy you actually have — and what it’s for.

Hello there,

It's mid-October. Somewhere between the school concert, work deadlines, the gifts and the Christmas Day food plan, the list got longer than any one person can do.

Most end-of-year plans assume you'll have a full tank every week. You won't. Some weeks will be sick kids, broken sleep, or a day that goes sideways.

So skip the question of how to fit it all in. Ask how much spare energy you actually have, and what it's for.

Your End of Year Energy Budget

That's what the End of Year Energy Budget does. It takes about five minutes.

  • Pick the week you usually have: low, steady or good stretch.
  • The tool works out your energy to 31 December and holds 20% back for the bad days.
  • For every task on your list, choose one: do it, hand it off, park it until January, or drop it.

Make room for the bad days

Two things to know. Handing a task off still costs 1 unit, because you have to brief the person. Parking and dropping cost nothing. And if the tool says you're over budget, believe it. The easiest cut is usually the nice-to-have at the bottom of the list.

Nothing you enter leaves your device.
